I just love the deep red color of garnet. Makes me wish I’d been born in January instead of October. How about you? Do you love your own birthstone, or are you crushing on another month’s?

Meet Niki!

Today I’d like to introduce Niki from Glossy Blonde, one of my lovely sponsors this month. She’s a sassy blonde dishing up style and sweets. 🙂 Get to know her below and then go say hi!   Niki Caron Go say hi: Blog | Facebook | Twitter | Bloglovin | Pinterest | Instagram Hi! I’m Niki. First, let me just say that Glossy Blonde refers to my deep love of lip gloss… and more obvious, the fact that I’m blonde. I’m just your average fashion and beauty addict who loves to bake (and eat). I deliver my honest thoughts, finds, […]

What I Wore: Winter Mint

I know, I know. You guys were probably at least expecting snow on the ground with that title. But hey, I live in Austin. It was chilly out for these parts (I wore this on Sunday). And if it makes you northerners feel better, there was hail in the forecast when I checked the weather for the week. Admittedly, that was also on Sunday and it doesn’t look like that’s in the cards (or the clouds, rather) anymore. But it was cold enough I didn’t feel like taking off my coat, so there’s that. This is my version of taking […]

Tuesday Treasure Trove

Tuesday Treasure Trove

This week’s list of read-worthy things. If you’re looking for Tuesday 10, just scroll down. Awesome thing of the week: This Isn’t the Petition Response You’re Looking For, the official White House response to a petition aiming to secure resources and funding, and begin construction of a Death Star by 2016. Random fun thing of the week: Giant Rubber Duck Swims in to Sydney Harbor. A less happy link from Down Under: A disturbing glimpse of Australia’s wildfires as seen from space. PSA: Your Default Narrative Settings Are Not Apolitical. An interesting read on historical accuracy and bigotry in the […]

Right Now

Right now, I am… procrastinating on doing work. Not because any of my projects are all that hard or have headache-inducing clients, but because I am just tired. about to do my leg workout for the week. Yeah. The procrastination is so bad that exercise looks good in comparison to work. Haha. drinking water. I’m trying to do better with how much water I drink in a day. glad that it’s sunny out today. All that cold rain junk last week was a downer. Although I just looked at my weather widget and it shows HAIL for Wednesday. Wtf? excited […]

What I Wore: Blazers & Knots

This is what I wore today. I know I usually do these on Wednesday, but time & weather didn’t allow until now. Somehow, freakishly, the rainy, cold weather of the past week disappeared today and we got sunny in the 70’s. My kind of weather. 🙂 You haven’t really seen me in blazers too much on the blog yet, which is weird because I actually own (and wear) a few of them. So it’s about time. This is one of my favorites. It’s nice and light, but sharp looking. And it was perfect against all of the darker tones in […]

Book Review: Code Name Verity

Code Name Verity

Code Name Verity by Elizabeth Wein I hesitated over whether to write a review of this book for the simple fact that I wasn’t sure how to convey why I liked it without some major spoilers. I’m still not sure how to do that, but I’ll give it a whirl. Some basic facts: It takes place during World War II. It centers around the friendship between two English girls, Maddie and Queenie. One of them is a pilot, one of them is a spy. One of them is captured, one of them isn’t (not giving anything away, this is in […]
