What I Wore: Black & Green

This is what I’m wearing today. An easy summer outfit – cute tank or shirt, shorts, sandals or wedges, and a hat. It’s hard to tell in these pictures, but the front of the tank is lace, which I think adds a nice detail. Also, the more I wear this hat, the more I love it. I’m becoming a hat person – who knew? 🙂

Not much in the way of news since yesterday. Work as normal. Still printing up a storm in anticipation of next weekend’s craft party. Still trying to plan my outfits for the conference this weekend. I’ve got the schedule all worked out and business cards ready and all that, just need to dress myself, haha.

Tonight is date night, which is a nice perk in the middle of the week. It’s the boy’s turn to choose, so who knows where we’ll end up. My money’s on Mexican.

How’s your week going?

I know this last one was blurry, but I liked it all the same.

Book Review: The House at Riverton

The House at Riverton

The House at Riverton by Kate Morton I really wanted to like this book more than I did. Having marathoned through 3 seasons of Downton Abbey awhile back, I was ready for more period drama with an upstairs/downstairs angle. And The House at Riverton did have that. But the manner of the storytelling meant you didn’t really get to know either set well. The story is told through the eyes of Grace, once a housemaid at the grand house and now declining in a nursing home in her old age. But the main drama of the story centers around the […]

Wind & Waves

Etsy pretty things round-up time! I ran through the gamut of monthly-themed treasuries (which you can see here) so from now on it’ll be whatever random fancy strikes me each month. And after vacation last week, I have beach on the brain. 🙂 So today’s Etsy treasury is all about the seashore – things that remind me of and are made from it. Port Aransas

Photo-heavy post warning! Last week we escaped down to Port Aransas on Mustang Island for a few days. It was a 4-hour drive from our place, which isn’t too bad, though some passengers disagreed:   There was a lot of rain on the way down, but it cleared up for a short while right when we arrived. We rented a cute little cottage, just a few blocks from the beach in one direction, and a few blocks from downtown in the other direction. Perfect location.   Check-in wasn’t until 4pm, so our first day there was pretty short. We settled […]

Recipe: Easy White Fish Broil

Easy White Fish Broil

Prepare yourself for the easiest and tastiest fish recipe ever. It’s adapted from a recipe in one of the boy’s cookbooks (Esquire’s Eat Like a Man). We’ve made this twice so far, and thoroughly enjoyed it both times. It’s also a good excuse to use that oft neglected broiler drawer on your oven.   Easy White Fish Broil   Ingredients 2 skinless white fish fillets*, 6 oz. each 2 Tbsp. of butter, softened but not melted Fine sea salt Ground white pepper Herbes de Provence 2 Tbsp. olive oil 1/4 c. freshly squeezed lemon juice *We’ve used red snapper […]
