What I Wore is a now-defunct series that I used to do on the blog where I shared what I was wearing. I did this for 2 reasons: #1) because I work from home and sometimes need a little extra motivation to get out of PJs, and #2) clothes as an expression of self became interesting to me, and I used this series to document my evolving style and what I liked.
If you’re in search of fall outfit inspiration, you’re in the wrong place. Clearly we’re still in the grip of summer weather here. Or at least we were this past weekend, when I took these shots. For all I know Austin experienced a cooling spell as soon as I left. And it will probably still be near 90 when I return.
I love this skirt. It’s easy to wear, since you can just pick any tone out of the floral print (which is itself a great color palette) and use that on top. And the pleats give it a nice touch. It moves really well, too, very swingy and breezy. Also, can I just say how much I love solid color tanks that aren’t boring? Again, easy to pair with something because of the color, but with enough interesting details that it’s not just a throw-away – perfection. I was originally wearing my hair down when I went out to coffee with a friend in the morning, but it quickly warmed up and necessitated hair off the neck.

I don’t have an outfit post for you today. Between rainy weather and sensitive lady times, I was just not feeling it. ‘It’ being the whole ‘put together a cute outfit and brush your hair and haul the camera and tripod outside and take pictures for 20 minutes and hope some are usable’ thing. However, you may or may not be aware that I share close-up snippets of outfits pretty regularly on Instagram, under the #ootd tag (outfit of the day). There’s a tiny bit of overlap, but by and large the #ootd snippets are outfits that don’t make it […]
Cue dramatic lighting! Haha. I took these pictures pretty late in the day compared to when I normally shoot, and the light was all slanty and golden. Yes, I know – that’s why photographers call it the golden hour. I’ve just usually got something else on my plate at that time of day (literally or figuratively). Anyway, I like how they turned out. And I like this outfit. The cami is one of my favorites, and the skirt is so soft. Love them. This outfit almost didn’t happen, because when I put the skirt on (on Monday) I noticed that […]
This month, I am (sporadically) participating in Blogtember with Jenni. The prompt for today was a ‘only photos.’ Appropriate for Wednesday style posts, no? So here are some pics I snapped this morning. Skirt: Victoria’s Secret; Shirt: H&M; Necklace: Etsy; Rings: various; Belt: off another dress; Shoes: Blowfish Shoes. Also linking up with The Pleated Poppy, Transatlantic Blonde, Kiwi Women’s Style, Style Elixir, Because Shanna Said So, Lena B Actually, and Two Thirty-Five Designs.
This month, I will be (sporadically) participating in Blogtember with Jenni. Today’s prompt: If you could take three months off from your current life and do anything in the world, what would you do? If I could take three months off and do anything, with money not being a factor, I would travel. I would travel a LOT. I’d split it up and do 3 weeks in the British Isles (focusing on Ireland & Scotland), 3 weeks in the Mediterranean (Italy & Greece specifically), 3 weeks in Australia, and 3 weeks visiting my family here in the States. I would […]
ModCloth is having their big Last Hurrah sale right now, which means lots of things at 70% off. Which is music to my money-saving-loving ears. Here’s what I snagged: My order already shipped! Can’t wait to try everything on – crossing my fingers that everything fits, since it’s final sale. If not, to Ebay they shall go. Also, the chevron dress and southwestern flats are still available in select sizes as I’m writing this, if they catch your fancy. 😉 If you’ve never purchased from ModCloth before, now is a great time to do it. And if you […]
My thing lately has been wearing tanks/shirts over dresses. In particular, this black sundress number I picked up from the Langford Market booth at TxSC prom. I think this is the fourth tank I’ve layered over it. I like it, but of the tanks I’ve layered with it I don’t think it’s my favorite. The others are in the laundry, though, so that’s that. Ian didn’t even realize the first two times that it was a dress underneath until I told him. Just more proof that a LBD is a very versatile wardrobe item. 🙂 Also, I’m not bothering to […]
