A to Z Book Survey

A to Z Book Survey

I saw this survey over on Katie’s Book Blog, and thought it sounded fun, so here we go with the bookish things:

Author You’ve Read The Most Books From
Hmm, tricky. Probably Jim Butcher, but also maybe Steven Brust or Robin Hobb.

Best Sequel Ever
This is hard one. I’m going to go with Days of Blood & Starlight by Laini Taylor, or The Wise Man’s Fear by Patrick Rothfuss.

Currently Reading
4 different ones going: Cloud Atlas by David Mitchell, Throne of Glass by Sarah Maas, The Humans by Matt Haig and Grimm’s Fairy Tales by… well, you know.

Drink of Choice While Reading
It depends on the time of day, and the season. Right now usually sweet tea or water.

E-reader or physical book?
Physical books forever!

Fictional Character You Probably Would Have Actually Dated in High School
Probably Charles Bingley from Pride & Prejudice. Sweet and a little awkward and gangly, not as imposing/dramatic as Mr. Darcy.

Glad You Gave This Book a Chance
Bridge of Birds by Barry Hughart

Hidden Gem Book
Anything by Carol Berg. I feel like she flies under the radar a lot, but I really like her books.

Important Moment in Your Reading Life
Questions like this annoy me. I’ve always been a reader, there is no single ‘moment’ that stands out.

Just Finished
Pandemonium by Lauren Oliver (book #2 of the Delirium series). I liked it, but I also thought it was super predictable in a lot of ways.

Kinds of Books You Won’t Read
I don’t really do horror. Or Christian lit. Or a lot of non-fiction.

Longest Book You’ve Read
Probably one of the Harry Potters or one of the Song of Ice & Fire books (Game of Thrones for you HBO folk).

Major Book Hangover Because of
Pretty sure The Fault in Our Stars by John Green gave me an emotional book hangover.

Number of Bookcases You Own
8. Though I could always use more.

One Book You Have Read Multiple Times
Kushiel’s Dart by Jacqueline Carey.

Preferred Place to Read
On the couch, preferably stretched out.

Quote That Inspires You
Oh so so many to choose from.
“That which yields is not always weak.” – Kushiel’s Dart
“My best friend is a person who will give me a book I have not read.” – Abraham Lincoln
“The library is every child’s lighthouse. It’s every person’s sanctuary & fortress in the face of ignorance.” — Amy Bloom

Reading Regret
The Great Gatsby. SO did not enjoy that. Way over-hyped.

Series You Started and Need to Finish (series is complete)
All of the series that I can think of are unfinished because I’m waiting on the next book to be published.

Three of Your All Time Favorite Books
I can’t pick books, I have to go with series:
The Kushiel series by Jacqueline Carey
The Dresden Files by Jim Butcher
All the books in Robin Hobb’s Farseer/Rain Wilds/Bingtown world.

Unapologetic Fangirl For
Any thing I’ve already recommended above.

Very Excited for This Release More Than All the Others
Off the top of my head, the next Dresden Files book (#15, due out this year).

Worst Bookish Habit
Having way too many books all going at once. Book ADD.

X Marks the Spot: Start at the top left of your shelf and pick the 27th book
Mad Ship by Robin Hobb

Your Latest Book Purchase
The Fire-Bird: Russian Fairy Tales

ZZZ-Snatcher Book (last one that kept you up way too late)
I don’t remember, but probably one of Gail Carriger’s Parasol Protectorate books.

How about you? Any similar answers?

Friday Favorites: The Bandwagon (A to Z of Me)

Sienna

Life sort of went insane with freelancing work this week, the result of which is I didn’t have time/opportunity to bake and take pictures of the recipe thing I wanted to share. And since next week I’ll have my mom in town, and be down in San Antonio for my sister’s USAF graduation, the recipe probably won’t be coming until two weeks from now. HOWEVER. Since I didn’t want to crap out on the Friday Favorites series completely this week, this will be a photo-sparese but fact&fun-filled post. This little A to Z list has been making the rounds of […]
