December makes me think of one thing: Christmas, Christmas, and more Christmas. (We’re not much for the whole ice and snow thing here in Austin). So this month’s Etsy treasuries are all about that. Master Bedroom Makeover

I’ve been talking about painting rooms in the house for a few weeks now. I got sidelined for a little bit with my back being hurt, but this past week I finished up all of the little touches in the master suite. And today, I’m showing you our transformed master bedroom! A new paint job, new bedding, new switch plates, and new gallery walls, and I’m already loving the ‘new’ room. I’d still like to get some curtains – something light and breezy, semi-transparent – but that will come later. I went with all neutral, because we had a mix […]

What I Wore: Cozy Neutrals

I don’t know if it’s all the planning for the all-neutral master bedroom that I’m doing right now, but I have been loving (and apparently living) the neutrals lately. As evidenced by this outfit. And you get indoor photos because it was not even 30 degrees when I took these yesterday and I don’t have that much dedication to style posts. 😉 This Aztec sweater has been my jam this winter. It is the coziest thing, perfect for curling up in. And the cream & black color scheme goes with pretty much everything. This look has been one of my […]

What I Wore: Neutral Play

This is what I wore most of yesterday. I liked the play of different textures and neutral tones, and I like how these pictures turned out. I do not like the fact that about 3 hours after I took these, I was being plagued by a sort throat, increasingly stuffy head, and all the signs of impending sickdom. The lace shirt and sash and necklace got traded out for an old comfy sweatshirt. Much tea and Airborne were drunk. To no avail. Today I am in the full grip of the first cold of the winter, and I’m not liking […]

What I Wore: Neutrals Party (Pinterest Challenge)

Brown and black together, what?! This is something I usually avoid, but I think if you get the right shade of brown it can work. And when I saw this outfit floating around on Pinterest, I loved it. Black AND brown AND grey AND white? Yes. All ze neutrals, I will vear zem all! (imagine with an accent). So I decided to copycat it as part of my Pinterest challenge. You can see the original pin here. I had all of the elements except for a good scarf to pull it all together. And then I came across the Etsy […]

What I Wore: Neutral Patterns & Red Boots

This is what I’m wearing today. And it’s been a doozy of a day so far. Combination headache + lots of work + monthly curse = I just want to wrap up in this cardigan and take a nap on the couch. But that is not an option for self-employed freelancers with deadlines to meet today, so instead I took a mini break to do this post. It’s not a nap, but it at least gave my brain a break for a little bit from work and emails. So if I look tired and/or grumpy in these, that’d be why. […]

What I Wore: Manic Monday

This past Monday (yesterday) was a bit crazy. I had my normal freelance work to do, chores around the house, errands outside of the house, a last-minute meeting with a client, and a critique group with my fellow writers. I needed something comfortable for the out-and-about and in-home productivity, but also something professional/put-together for the client meeting. And hey, everyone likes to look cute when they’re out with their friends/colleagues. This is what I ended up with. It’s a fairly muted palette, but I’m pretty satisfied it met all three standards: Colors: Natural, Black, Denim, Brown Toned Accessories Tops: ModCloth’s […]
