Honeymoon Recap: Art

Warning! Possibly NSFW, lots of artwork with classical nudes coming up.

I am a designer, with a pretty good studio arts and art history background, so it’s no wonder I like to visit art museums. The surprise is that Ian, a very math-and-logic engineer type, LOVES art museums. So of course, on his first ever trip to Europe for our honeymoon, we had to fit in some of the art heavy hitters: the Uffizi Gallery in Florence, and the Louvre Museum in Paris. There of course is art everywhere over there, but here are some highlights. Again, lots of pictures, so more info in captions, and click to view bigger versions.

Other honeymoon photo round-ups: Food, and Scenery.

Have you ever gotten to see one of your favorite pieces of art in person?

Honeymoon Recap: Scenery

Ok, the scenery is by far the biggest category in my honeymoon photo recap series (if you missed Food, it’s here.). So I’m going to let the pictures do most of the talking. There are captions on each one if you mouse over, and clicking will open up a lightbox viewer. Have you ever been to Europe? What’s your favorite place?

Honeymoon Recap: Food

I wanted to share some honeymoon photos with you guys, but wasn’t sure how to go about it. We visited 5 different cities (Rome, Florence, Venice, Nice and Paris), and did day trips to half a dozen more, so breaking it up by place would mean a LOT of blog posts. We also took about 1500 pictures, so trying to do it in one post clearly wasn’t going to work. I finally settled on just sharing some highlights of our three favorite things: the food, the art, and the scenery. Today is the food. Apologies in advance if it makes […]

The Canyon & the Ring

This Christmas, we went to visit the boy’s family in Arizona, and got to do a little side trip to see the Grand Canyon at the same time. It was my first time seeing it, and the experience did not disappoint! It was just Ian and me for the side trip. The canyon is about a 4 hour drive from where his parents live. The first afternoon we got there was around 50 degrees, nice and sunny but super windy. We walked around and took in the views before the light died completely. I got to play around with my […]

Try the World

A few weeks ago I got wind of a new subscription box that intrigued me. It’s called Try the World, and every two months they send you a box full of gourmet foodie goodies representing a particular city around the world. They call it ‘A Taste of the World in a Box’, and for those of us not rich enough to be jet-setters, this seemed like the next best thing to taking a trip. So I signed up, and awaited my first box, which was all about Paris. This is what I got: It comes with a handy list of […]

Florida Through a New Lens

One of the Christmas gifts I received this year was a new lens for my DSLR camera. The boy got me a 50mm 1.4f lens! We were in Florida over the holiday, and I couldn’t wait to try it out. Verdict: I am in LOVE with it! Super speedy focusing and beautiful blurred backgrounds make me happy. Here are some shots I took while getting to know my new lens: Do you have an SLR or DSLR? What’s your favorite lens to use?

NY in Pictures

I am back from our trip! Did you miss me? 😉 We had an activity-packed week spending time with the boy’s extended family. It was like a mini family reunion. And by mini, I mean 13 people total, which doesn’t seem like much until you’re trying to coordinate everyone in the morning or get seated at a restaurant, haha. We went to a spa, and up a scenic overlook and to cute little lakeside towns, took a train further upstate for the views and shopping, spent time hanging around his uncle’s house, went to an apple orchard to pick apples […]
