Tuesday Treasure Trove

Things of Note:

The boy is on a weird work schedule this week, which is taking some adjusting to for both of us. He’s only home in the morning & very early afternoon, which means we don’t get much hang-out time this week because that’s the time I have to be working. Long story short is that lunch is now the big, we-cook-and-eat-together meal, and all of my evenings are free for the week. Next week it’s back to normal, but it looks like we’ll have a week like this once every month from now on. Ch-ch-changes.

The upside is that with evenings free I have lots of time to actually do stuff. Not that I don’t normally do stuff in the evenings, but this is just-for-me/bf-wouldn’t-be-interested stuff. Like watching that sad romantic movie from Netflix that’s been sitting there forever. Or going to see a chic flick by myself at the theater. Or tackling that maxi dress DIY I’ve been eyeing for awhile and finally got fabric for (gorgeous purple color, if you’re wondering – doing this tonight). Or doing a major closet cleaning. Or tons of shop & blog stuff that’s been sitting on my to-do list. Yes, I’ll miss Ian time this week, but by gosh I’ll be productive in the meantime!

How’s your week going so far?

Sunday Social

Linking up with Neely for Sunday Social. This week’s theme is food. If you could only eat one thing for the rest of your life, what would it be? Curry, or some sort of pasta. What’s your guilty pleasure/comfort food? Chips. Sometimes with salsa, sometimes just straight from the bag to my mouth. I can decimate a big bag of chips. What’s the weirdest/craziest thing you’ve ever eaten? Probably shark or crocodile. Both while in Australia. What foods do you avoid at all costs? Anything that has an overwhelming-flavored sauce/condiment (this includes mustard, mayonnaise, most salad dressings, crazy ‘foodie’ sauces […]

What I Wore: Maxi Stripes

Stripes: only slightly less of an obsession than polka dots and lace. This has been my favorite maxi dress this summer. It’s so soft and breezy, and just plain easy to wear. This is what I wore yesterday around the house, out running errands, and then to a friend’s birthday happy hour gathering. So I can testify to the fact that it is equally comfy when lounging in A/C on the couch, or sipping sangria outside on a patio. Also, I think I’ve finally mastered the messy bun look. 😀 That happy hour was the extent of my definite […]

10 on 10

Linking up with one of my wonderful sponsors, Amy of The Charming Blog, for this month’s 10 on 10. All time favorite band? This is tricky. My music tastes have changed a bit over the years. Um, for sheer longevity of fan-ness, I’d have to go with either Ben Folds (Five) or Duncan Sheik. Or Cake. Do you subscribe to any magazine? If so, what? Yup, two. Time, and Taste of Home. What state do you live in? Texas. Fashion: How do you feel about brown and black together? Generally a no-no for me. Particularly darker browns with black – […]

How We Met

Today marks exactly 3 years since Ian and I first met, and I thought I’d share that story since it almost didn’t happen. We had actually ‘met’ before that online (yes, we’re one of those eHarmony couples – my mom keeps saying we should do a commercial for them), and had emailed back and forth several times. Sunday August 9th came around, and I happened to have an extra ticket to a Round Rock Express baseball game that night, and thought ‘why not?’ – time to meet in person. So I invited him, and he said sure. Since the ball […]

Tuesday 10: Things I Love About Austin

I’m linking up with Lena for this week’s Tuesday 10. This week’s ‘theme’ was Blogger’s Choice, and I decided to steal a theme from weeks previous that I missed and do 10 things I love about the place I live. So, here are my: It’s a big city (population-wise) that doesn’t feel big. As in, I’m not terrified to drive around downtown like I would be in NYC. Frustrated sometimes, because of all the one-way streets and lack of parking, but I’m not going to get lost. And if I’m walking around downtown, I’m not really worried about getting mugged. […]
