Hi! I’m back in Texas after surviving the frozen northlands. I’ll do a holiday round-up post tomorrow or the next day, because it was a good trip and there were a few epic gifts that need to be celebrated. But since I’m still playing catch-up on work, I’m just doing a quick, fun post today.

I stole this from Caitlin’s blog.

What is your favorite book? This has always been an impossible question for me. I am an unabashed bookworm, and LOVE books. I’ll settle for listing some favorite authors, since picking a single book (or series, or author) ain’t gonna happen: Jacqueline Carey, Steven Brust, Jim Butcher, Carol Berg, Robin Hobb, Patrick Rothfuss, Ursula Le Guin, Jack McDevitt and Jane Austen.

What is your favorite movie? Can anyone really pick just one of these? Gah. These are a few that I’ve seen recently and loved, or could watch over and over: Pride & Prejudice (the most recent one), White Christmas, Holiday (the Cary Grant one), Away We Go, Wit, Wall-e, The King’s Speech, The 5th Element, Dr. Horrible’s Sing-Along Blog, V for Vendetta, The Usual Suspects, Moulin Rouge… I could go on.

What is your favorite song? Right now it is The Civil War’s ‘Poison & Wine’. But it changes.

Who is your hero? I don’t know. There are plenty of people I admire a lot, but I don’t really think of anyone as a ‘hero.’

If you could be any character from literature or film, who would you be? My first instinct was to say Elizabeth Bennett from P&P, but on second thought I’m going to go with someone who has a bit more power/personal freedom: Lessa from Anne McCaffery’s Pern series. Not at all influenced by the fact that she has a companion dragon she can communicate with telepathically. Not at all.

If you could have one super power, what would it be? Teleportation. Although flying is a close second.

If you could have three wishes, what would they be? 1) For myself and my family to have enough money to support ourselves in comfort indefinitely and not be in debt. 2) To banish organized religion from the world (in my mind, the most important step to world peace). 3) To make all current and future technology pollution-free.

What is your favorite color? Purple.

Who is your best friend? My boyfriend Ian.

How many kids do you want to have when you grow up? I think just two, ideally a boy and a girl.

What are your favorite boy & girl names? Devon and Emlyn.

What is your favorite game? The Sims 3. Though I also play WoW, and have been sucked into Ian’s game of Skyrim.

Who is your favorite actor? Matt Damon. Guy continually impresses me.

Who is your favorite actress? Anne Hathaway. I used to not like her, but she’s really grown on me with her recent work.

What was your first word? Hmm. I actually don’t know. But probably ‘mama’

What do you want to be when you grow up? Kind of cliche, but a mom.

What are you good at? Organizing/planning (it’s the follow-through that sometimes suffers), design, reading/writing, remembering random details, buying more books and clothes than I strictly need, etc.

What is your favorite food? Italian. I could live off of pasta.

Reading or Writing? Reading.

What is your favorite time of year? Summer. I am not made for the cold.

What do you call your grandmother? I called her ReeRee (nickname that stuck when we toddlers couldn’t pronounce her full name Marie).

If you could be any animal, which would you be? A dragon! Oh, you mean a *real* animal? Phooey. Probably a tiger.

What is your favorite type of music? Singer/songwriter types of things. Non-trite lyrics, awesome vocals, and heavy on piano and/or guitar.

Do you believe in love at first sight? Eh.

What is your favorite hobby? At the moment, screenprinting. But I also like video games. And reading.

What is the last book you read? Aloha From Hell by Richard Kadrey (3rd book in the Sandman Slim series). It was ok. Not as good as the other two.

What is the last movie you saw? 3 Musketeers – a re-imagining of the classic tale in modern times with secret agents, guns, and really bad special effects.

Did you enjoy it? It was awesome in it’s horribleness.

Do you collect anything? Books. Dragon-ish things. Knives and swords.

Where do you see yourself in 10 years? Still living in the Austin area, hopefully married with some kiddos, still freelancing, hopefully having grown the blog and screenprinting shop a bunch.

What is your favorite restaurant? Maggiano’s Little Italy.

What is your fondest memory? Meeting Ian on our make-up date after I accidentally stood him up on our first date (miscommunication about the meeting place, and a phone forgotten at home). He was nice enough to still want to go out with me. 🙂

What gives you the most joy? A day hanging out with my puppy and boyfriend, maybe cooking something but generally just being together.

If you could visit any country, where would you go? Ireland. I’ve always wanted to go there, and have yet to manage it.

Do you have any scars? Yup. Mostly on knees & elbows from years of soccer and softball, and then one wicked one on my upper arm that I tell people I got in a knife fight but was actually something much less cool.

Have you ever been to the hospital? Yup, several times.

Have you ever stayed up all night? Yup.

Do you cook anything well? The answer used to be no (I couldn’t successfully crack an egg until after I was 20), but in recent years I have been working on this. I’ve been told that I make really good apple pie, sweet potato casserole, cheesecake, and pastitsio.

What was the last thing you did to help someone? I folded Ian’s laundry for him while he was at the gym yesterday. Though it was partly motivated by the fact that I needed the dryer empty for my clothes, lol.
