Most (if not all) designers are font junkies. I am no exception. The number of fonts I have installed on my computer can be measured in hundreds, not dozens. Free font sites make it so easy to feed that addiction. Today I thought I’d share with you some of my current favorite font freebies (follow the links to download).
Advert
Champagne & Limousines
Chicago House
Ephesis
Jellyka Bees Antique Handwriting
Kolibri
La Portenia de la Boca
The Quickest Shift
Sexsmith
Tripoli – you may recognize this font as the one I use as headline text here on DD.
Vargas
Windsong
Obviously, these all tend more towards the headline/accent font side of things, rather than fonts you’d use for large pieces of text. But I like ’em!
What are some of your favorite fonts? I can’t be the only font junkie out there. 🙂
Ooooh, I love Advert… I might even blog header like it. Font indecision is the only thing holding back my little redesign. Can’t wait to play around with it!
Nice! Glad to be of help. 🙂
Oh my goodness, I have wayyy to many favorites. I really like Passionsans – it tends to get used in a lot of things I do. It’s just so clean.
Ooh, I hadn’t come across that one before. Totally just downloaded it. 🙂
ooh i love the first 2 and the quickest shift..snazyyy!
ok, because i have no clue, how do you actually use these downloaded fonts..how do you use them? in blogger when writing posts? or for other things?
You have to install them on your computer (generally just moving the .ttf or .otf files to the system’s Fonts folder), and then you can use them in Word, Photoshop, etc. If you wanted to use them directly on the web (as I’m using Tripoli on my site) you’d have to do a Cufon font replacement, which is a bit more technical and takes some programming.
