Today’s indoor shoot brought to you by rainy-cloudy-thundery skies the last 2 days. So this is what I am, in fact, wearing this exact moment. I’m even sitting in that exact chair below (yes, you get a glimpse into my glamorous office decor, haha). I wasn’t sure about bright kelly green jeans at first, but there’s just something so perfect about this color paired with black and white that they’ve won me over. It helps that this pair is super comfortable, too.
So, life lately: rain; work; Sims 3; reading; paychecks still frustratingly out in the ether instead of in my PO box. Yeah. And the two I’ve been expecting the past few days are from two clients who usually pay very promptly. They’re not technically overdue quite yet, but when a client repeatedly pays promptly (like I have the check 2 days after invoicing promptly) you get used to that and expect that. More to the point, my bank account expects that. The postal service doesn’t take a holiday for Easter, so it’s not like service was interrupted. Hmph. I really hope they show up tomorrow morning, because I need to go to the grocery store. Ian’s got date night dinner covered tonight, but groceries/home meals are usually my thing and we are flat out of make-able things.
That’s not to say things are dire. Far from it. I have more than enough coming in to cover my expenses, it’s just that timing everything is always a balancing act. I hate to have to use my credit cards or pull money out of savings, because those are two areas I’m really working on this year (eliminating the first, growing the second). And I know everything will be fine, it’s just these thin days waiting for money stress me out.
Whew. Ok. End stressy rant. To lighten the mood, scroll down for adorable puppy.
Fellow self-employed people, do you have the same juggling act with your finances?
If I had gone outside, I would have added these boots and this jacket.

One of the paychecks did show up right on its due date, so that was a relief. And thanks for the well wishes. 🙂
Love the green jeans! I hope the rest of your week goes better.
Thank you! (on both counts) 🙂
Yep. Whenever I’m working freelance, I totally have that problem. There for awhile, I had the maddening issue of having to chase down clients to pay me because I didn’t have enough money for rent. Sigh. Glad those days are over!
I’ve had clients like that in the past, too, where you literally have to nag them to death to get paid. But that’s what was so weird about this week, because these are two long-time repeat clients, and they have always paid quickly before. Ah well. Such is the freelance life. All’s well now. 🙂
You have great legs for coloured skinny jeans! Have a great day, Amanda 🙂
Aw, thank you! You just made my day. 🙂
Green jeans are my favorite kind of jeans! And while we’re not self-employed, even with a regular paycheck every two weeks we occasionally get in some sort of cash flow crisis when somehow all of our money is in savings or otherwise not accessible at the moment…I remember one time I was away on a trip and Angel called to tell me there was nothing in our checking account so I better not use my debit card.
Yikes! Yeah, I’ve been close to the zero balance line more often that I’d like. Luckily that has become less frequent the more years are under my freelance belt. 🙂
I love the green pants. I have been looking for more pieces that are the color of the year.
Thanks! These are more kelly green than emerald in real life (photos are tricksy) but I love them. 🙂
It sucks when clients are late with payment! Love the black & white top with belt!
Yes it does! And thank you. 🙂
love your top and necklace!!

Thank you! 😀
Loving all your photo shoot props! The dog, the chair. 😉 Cute outfit too!
Hehe, thank you! I thought I’d mix it up, since I was stuck inside. 🙂
That would kind of drive me insane, I have to say.
Yeah, it kind of drives me insane. But on the flip side, the perks of being self-employed are totally worth it.
Such a cute outfit! I love all of the details on the jewelry!
Thanks!! 😀
Love these colors together! The green pants are a good way to brighten your day when the weather is dreary.
Very true! I do find myself drifting to brighter colors when it’s grey and rainy out. 🙂 Thanks for stopping by!
Really lovely top with green pant! You look great!
Thank you! 🙂
