Legend (Legend #1)
by Marie Lu
This was the April pick for the Blogger Book Club. It takes place far enough in the future that the United States of America has become nothing more than a legend, and the western part of this continent is under the very strict government control of the Republic. The story alternates between Day (poor boy turned criminal from the wrong side of the plague barrier) and June (the militaristic oligarchy’s bright rising star). It’s pretty standard YA dystopia meets star-crossed lovers. Which is not to say I didn’t enjoy it – I did. But it didn’t surprise me and wasn’t particularly intricate. There are no plot twists. Everything happens according to the usual YA dystopian formula. I’m actually more excited about the 2nd book. From the point where this book ended, it could go many directions, so that is intriguing. But this first book was an easy quick read, and I enjoyed some of the characters. If you enjoy YA and are looking for some not particularly heavy reading, give this a try.
I give it 3.5/5 stars.

Yep, totally agree!
Even though it was predictable I still wanted to finish it .. which is more than I can say of the current book I’m reaading and have been reading for over 2 months! haha!
Haha, I know what you mean! I have a book that’s been laying unfinished for months, too – Gone Girl. What’s yours?
I absolutely agree with you on everything here! I think the second book is bound to be better.
That’s what I’m hoping!
