One of the new things I’ve decided to do with the shop this year is to donate a portion of all sales to charities or causes that I support. I’ve been considering doing so for awhile, and the new year seemed like the perfect time to start this new venture. A resolution, if you will, to put that little much more good out in the world. Each month will be a different charity or cause, and at the end of the month I’ll do the math on sales and donate 10% of the total.
January is Human Trafficking Awareness Month, so this month’s charity is Not For Sale, an organization that fights to stop modern-day slavery around the world. Their mission statement: “Our mission is to create a world where no one is for sale.” That’s a sentiment and purpose I support 100%. I’m guessing (hoping?) you agree. You can visit their site to donate directly, or support them and a handmade business in one swoop by purchasing something from my shop this month. You can also learn more about the issue here and here.
Have you made any resolutions for the new year focused on charity or volunteering? What have you decided to do?
