New Year, New Name, New Goals

As you may have noticed, there’s been a bit of an overhaul here at Dragonflight. For one thing, it’s now Dragonflight Dreams, instead of Dragonflight Apparel. Since this blog has really grown to be about more than just my screenprinting adventures, I thought a name that was a bit more open than ‘apparel’ would be appropriate. Dreams seemed fitting, as I’m going to blog about plans and goals and quirks and more. ๐Ÿ™‚ Plus, who doesn’t like some good alliteration?

To go along with that, my Twitter name changed a bit (now @DragonflightGal), the URL of this site changed a bit, the Etsy shop name changed, and I re-did the header and sidebar of the blog. I’m digging the new look. Also, you may notice there are now some fancy sponsor images in the sidebar, as well. Yup, Dragonflight Dreams is now accepting sponsors. ๐Ÿ™‚ Check out the sponsor page for more details.

So, it’s now 2012. Didn’t 2011 go by quick? I don’t really have a ‘New Years’ resolution; I did a 28 Before 28 list back at the end of October that has all of my goals for the next year-ish, so I guess my resolution will be to work on that. And I’ve already made pretty good headway! I’ve baked some pies from scratch, gotten myself a new back-friendly office chair, eaten at some new restaurants, and started offering sponsor spots. If the sponsors I’ve already lined up for January feel like participating, I’ll be hosting my first ever giveaway here on the blog later this month. Also, I’ll knock #3 (travel out of country) and #4 (travel somewhere new in the US) out come May, when I’m going on an Alaskan cruise (with a stop in Canada!) with Ian and his family. Yay!

We're going to go whale watching!!

The other two things I’m focusing on from the list right now are #1 (plant some things) and #11 (do more Pilates). I’ve actually ordered a bunch of pretty flower bulbs that should be arriving any time now. The great thing about the Texas climate is that I can plant flowers in Dec/Jan and it’s ok! I’ll be starting with a colorful arrangement of tulips, daffodils, and irises. We’ll see how that goes. Also, I start a 5-week Pilates mat class series this Wednesday, and barring any serious illness I plan on sticking with it. It’s a 12-class series, and the sessions I’ve signed up for are all at good times for me (nothing before 11:30am!). When I have to force my non-morning-person self to get up at 7 or 8 to exercise, it’s that much more unlikely, so good class times help. Ideally, after this series I should know enough to be able to do Pilates on my own at home.

Hopefully they turn out as pretty in my front yard.

All in all, it’s gearing up to be a pretty awesome year. What kinds of resolutions or goals are you chasing this year?
