I know, I know. You guys were probably at least expecting snow on the ground with that title. But hey, I live in Austin. It was chilly out for these parts (I wore this on Sunday). And if it makes you northerners feel better, there was hail in the forecast when I checked the weather for the week. Admittedly, that was also on Sunday and it doesn’t look like that’s in the cards (or the clouds, rather) anymore. But it was cold enough I didn’t feel like taking off my coat, so there’s that.
This is my version of taking a very springtime color (in this case, mint) and transitioning it to winter. Nothing really breakthrough about it, lots of layers and blends of colors. But I rather like how it came out. It was comfy and warm and felt very light. The scarf was an all-day accessory, not just an outdoors one, and I think it balanced all the pale/pastel tones nicely. As did the coat. But scarves are my current favorite thing. They’re like necklaces that actually help you keep warm. Even a light one like this. It’s a definite point in their favor over necklaces with the weather lately. My scarf collection has kind of exploded in the past few months, you guys haven’t even seen the half of it. I should do a Friday Favorites all about scarves. *makes a note*
Anywho, today is date night! And it’s my turn to pick, woohoo! We are going to be trying out a new-to-us place here in Round Rock that has a New Orleans vibe. Should be good (I hope). I’ve also been keeping my eye out on Groupon for the Emerald Restaurant special, as they usually put that out this time of year in preparation for V-day and the boy has already reminded me to snatch that up. I know! He’s actually thinking about V-day stuff already, I’m impressed. He’s also feeling better lately, so I think we’re finally over the hump with his shingles recovery. Whew. That has not been a fun ride, let me tell you.
Other than all that, just a normal work week. As far as I know, we don’t have any plans yet this weekend, so we’ll see what comes up. 🙂

Thank you!! 😀
I love the idea of taking a spring/summer color and transitioning it! The mint pants are great – I love your outfit! And that is so sweet that he’s already thinking about valentine’s day!!!
Thanks! 🙂 I think the next couple of WIW posts are going to be similar theme – taking a spring/summer item or color and making it work for winter weather. Because living where I do I have WAY more warm weather clothes, and it’s fun to see how I can stretch their use. 🙂
And I know! I was so surprised when he brought it up! He’s very much not a plan-in-advance type, so it was doubly jaw-dropping, haha.
Cute cute outfit! Thanks again for linking up. I love how you put the colors underneath the outfit pictures, great idea!
Thanks!! 🙂 I know it wasn’t really pattern mixing, but at least it was season mixing? haha. I’m going to try to get back into doing the closet challenges.
I am LOVING this look, especially those boots!
Aw, thanks! These are definitely my favorite boots. I probably wear them 6/7 days of the week when the weather is cold like this. 🙂
Love the color scheme…and your mint pants! Hope you had a fun date night! 🙂
Thank you! 🙂 We actually had to post-pone date night because the boy got stuck late at work, but it’s on for tomorrow night. Time to think up a cute outfit! (bright side)
love the way the colours work together the scarf is great. Thanks for being a wardrobe Weds player this week.
Thank you! It might be my new favorite scarf. Maybe. Maybe tied with my mustard floral one, haha.
Thanks for hosting again! I look forward to the link-up every week, and seeing what you have to say. 🙂
Ok you’ve convinced me…I NEED some mint jeans. For some reason colored denim intimidates me…mint seems like a nice way to transition into the trend!
I know what you mean! Colored denim totally intimidated me at first, too. But then I jumped in with a bright red pair, and everything after that was a piece of cake, haha. Mint is definitely a good color to start with, it’s so versatile. 🙂
I love this! You’ve worked the pastel in so nicely with a winter look. I have a pair of lavender jeans that I keep putting on and taking off b/c they don’t feel winter-y enough. You’ve inspired me to try them again.
Oooh, lavender – if you try them again I’d definitely be interested in seeing an outfit post.
And thank you! 🙂
Oh man! That jacket, those boots and that ring. Love love love!
Also, anything with a New Orleans vibe has gotta be good!!!
Thanks thanks thanks! 😀 I’ve been living in these boots this winter, they just go with so many things. And are COMFY.
