What I Wore: Black Floral Green

Today’s indoor shoot brought to you by rainy-cloudy-thundery skies the last 2 days. So this is what I am, in fact, wearing this exact moment. I’m even sitting in that exact chair below (yes, you get a glimpse into my glamorous office decor, haha). I wasn’t sure about bright kelly green jeans at first, but there’s just something so perfect about this color paired with black and white that they’ve won me over. It helps that this pair is super comfortable, too.

So, life lately: rain; work; Sims 3; reading; paychecks still frustratingly out in the ether instead of in my PO box. Yeah. And the two I’ve been expecting the past few days are from two clients who usually pay very promptly. They’re not technically overdue quite yet, but when a client repeatedly pays promptly (like I have the check 2 days after invoicing promptly) you get used to that and expect that. More to the point, my bank account expects that. The postal service doesn’t take a holiday for Easter, so it’s not like service was interrupted. Hmph. I really hope they show up tomorrow morning, because I need to go to the grocery store. Ian’s got date night dinner covered tonight, but groceries/home meals are usually my thing and we are flat out of make-able things.

That’s not to say things are dire. Far from it. I have more than enough coming in to cover my expenses, it’s just that timing everything is always a balancing act. I hate to have to use my credit cards or pull money out of savings, because those are two areas I’m really working on this year (eliminating the first, growing the second). And I know everything will be fine, it’s just these thin days waiting for money stress me out.

Whew. Ok. End stressy rant. To lighten the mood, scroll down for adorable puppy.

Fellow self-employed people, do you have the same juggling act with your finances?

If I had gone outside, I would have added these boots and this jacket.

Floral Pants 3 Ways

I know, I know; usually today is a What I Wore post. I had planned on doing one, with my floral skinny jeans seeing as it’s officially spring and all. But I ran out of time yesterday and I’m feeling under the weather today, so a photo shoot is the last thing I feel like. Instead, I’ll show you some of the ways I was considering wearing said floral jeans. I’ve been using Polyvore to build a collection of items in my wardrobe, so that I can mix and match them in their handy drag-and-drop builder. It’s still a work […]

What I Wore: Red Buds in December

I wore this last week, before our little cold spell descended. A sleeveless top and light cardigan in December! This is why I live in Texas. I know in the summer I start complaining about it being over 100, but that’s a price I’ll gladly pay for sunny 75 degree days in the winter. I had quite enough grey slushy 20-degree days growing up in Ohio. The past few days, of course, it’s been a bit colder. It’s all of 40 degrees out when I typed this out. But weather forecast shows it’s back up to 70 this weekend. At […]

What I Wore: Floral Rust

This week’s closet challenge from Ma Nouvelle Mode was ‘oversized shirt,’ and I just so happened to have one that I’d been waiting to wear. I tried on about a dozen different belts before settling on this one. And… I dunno. This look turned out ok. I’m satisfied with it, just not thrilled. I think it’s the odd hemline of the shirt on top of the oversized fit. On the other hand, I’m very thrilled with these rust colored skinnies. The color palette of this outfit in general is happy-making. I feel like autumn incarnate. This week is going […]
