The Devil You Know By Mike Carey This book started out so promising. It had a wise-cracking protaganist with a great name (Felix Fix Castor). It had good pace, good mystery, and some interesting characters, and of course a dash of the paranormal, as Felix is an...
Future Plans F.A.Q.
Are you only going to be doing women's t-shirts? Nope, certainly not. The shop is all women's right now simply because my designs so far have had a more feminine slant, and because most of the stock I have is women's shirts. I have a few men's t-shirts in stock, too,...
Where the Magic Happens
Or at least the physical labor. A quick, one-picture tour of where I make all the goods: 1. Ever-present roll of paper towels. Screenprinting is a messy business sometimes. 2. Gauzy material that will eventually be stretched over hoops to become a screen. 3. Finished...
Book Review: Misspent Youth
Misspent Youth By Peter F. Hamilton The book jacket description led me to believe this would be my kind of science fiction - the kind that uses the sci-fi element to explore human psychology and sociology, rather than just being an adventure story set in space or...
Business and Birthdays
So, I printed up some business cards for DA, for general purposes and also to serve as tags/labels to send out with the shirts. Check it out: Also, I had printed up a shirt for my friend Deb, whose birthday celebration was yesterday. Since she has received (and loved)...
New Design: Windborne
Here's a quick preview of the next design that'll hit the DA shop. A bird on the wing. Or wind, in this case. This will be a fun one to experiment on with different color combos. UPDATE: This item is now up in the Etsy shop.
New Stock!
Target had Mossimo tees (super comfy) on sale, so I stocked up. Behold all of the possibilities! Edit: I didn't buy ALL of these today. This is just my shelf of stock
Partial Prints
I'm experimenting with doing partial prints off of the same screen. Here, it's isolated decorative elements from the Myst screen. This is the back/sleeve view. Should hit the shop tomorrow. Also: the design for the next screen is underway, stay tuned!
New design is a go! Myst
First attempt at printing with this screen came out off-center and patchy. Second attempt went much better - measured to center and practically pounded the ink through. Result: perfectly centered and solid. Should hit the store tomorrow or Wednesday. Yay! UPDATE: New...
Book Review: The Magicians
The Magicians by Lev Grossman I wasn't bored by this book, for sure, but ultimately I wasn't satisfied either. The cynical, disinterested view of the narrator, Quentin, pervades even the alternate magical world(s) he becomes privy to. There is a bit of wonder and awe...
