Tuesday Treasure Trove

- Cool news of the week: New evidence suggests a ninth planet lurking at the edge of the solar system. Though it’s really the 10th planet, sheesh. Poor Pluto.
- Scientists have traced folk stories and fairy tales back to the Bronze Age.
- The Future of Parking in the Age of Self-Driving Cars.
- Being frozen ‘to death’ saved this man’s life. It could save others, too.
- Tech’s ‘Frightful 5’ Will Dominate Digital Life for Foreseeable Future.
- Why the Next Uber Wannabe Is Already Dead.
- The Death of the Artist—and the Birth of the Creative Entrepreneur. “The notion of the artist as a solitary genius—so potent a cultural force, so determinative, still, of the way we think of creativity in general—is decades out of date.”
- We Asked A Mass Shooter Why The Hell This Keeps Happening. Actually a really insightful article.
- A heavy blanket might be the key for insomniacs and veterans.
- Yes, You Should Have a ‘Fuck-Off Fund’ in Case of Life, Relationship or Job Meltdowns. Not bad advice.
- On Hillary and Bernie. Agreed.
Things of Note:
This past week was pretty darn productive for me. I finished a big project and sent it off to print for a client. I did business-y things like paying my quarterly sales tax and balancing accounts. I actually have several posts scheduled for this blog, and one for my business blog. I read like 4 books. Also this past week, we had mostly sunshine and not grey days. I do not believe this is just coincidence. Though the book reading may at least also have had something to do with Ian having to work late every night last week, and me having lots of evening hours free. Whatevs.
Here’s hoping the productive streak continues this week. 🙂
How is your January going so far? New year productivity or grey winter slothness?

What I Wore: Date Night
Just add maxi dresses to the ever-growing list of my sartorial obsessions. This is what I wore yesterday for date night (and just during the day, too). A comfy, one-piece outfit in a great color combo? Sold and sold. I normally don't like the blouson affect on...
30 Days of Lists: Fictional Places I’d Like to Live
My choices for today's 30 Days of Lists prompt. I quite liked this topic! I don't have a pretty picture of a fancy notebook (since I'm not keeping one), but I did find some maps of said fictional places. 1. Terre d'Ange (Jacqueline Carey) 2. Dragaera (Steven...
Tuesday Treasure Trove
How to Nurture Your Jane Austen Obsession. I kind of want the dish towel, of all things. 🙂 Why It's Ok to Stay In Tonight. Not that I needed any more justification, but several of these are spot-on for me (the second, and the last two). A really scary true story...
100 Foods to Try Before You Die
Technically this should bee called 100 Foods & Drinks, since it has several beverages on it, but whatever. A friend had this on Facebook, and I was interested to see how many I had already eaten. (There may have been some intensive Googling, since I didn't even know...
Book Review: The Knife of Never Letting Go
The Knife of Never Letting Go (Chaos Walking #1) by Patrick Ness Let me start by saying that I'm glad Alycia posted about this book and recommended it, because I probably wouldn't have found it otherwise. It's the story of Todd, the last young boy in Prentisstown, a...
Tips for Insomniacs
As some of you might know, I struggle with insomnia pretty regularly, and have for several years. Since I know I'm not the only one out there with this issue, I thought I'd share some of the things that help me. The combination of the below has helped me go...
Recipe: Picante Chicken Tacos
I got this recipe from my sister (yes, the same brilliant one who introduced me to the wonder of sweet potato casserole). It might be the easiest thing I've made with my slow cooker yet. This taco filling is TASTY and will make your house/kitchen smell amazing for the...
