Tuesday Treasure Trove

- Photo series of the week: Auto Mechanics Hilariously Recreate Renaissance Paintings. Love it.
- Funny and sad because it’s true: Famous quotes, the way a woman would have to say them during a meeting.
- Feeling better about my adult coloring book: According To Psychologists, Coloring Is The Best Alternative To Meditation.
- Phobias may be memories passed down in genes from ancestors.
- Will We Recognize Alien Life When We See It?
- Haunted by hackers: A suburban family’s digital ghost story. This is terrible.
- Online Overload: Big Landlord Blocks Deliveries After Deluge of Boxes. I get their side of it, but I would still be furious if I lived there.
- How a Whites-Excluding Yoga Class Reveals the Absurdity of Identity Politics.
- The Salem Witch-Industrial Complex. “Once you get past the shellshock of “Everyone is here celebrating this actually awful thing,” one of the most striking things about Salem is the way that so many wildly different factions jostle up against each other, mostly good-naturedly.”
- Sitting for long periods doesn’t make death more imminent, study suggests. “In fact, sitting is no worse than standing for a person who doesn’t otherwise move his or her body.”
- People Without Electricity Don’t Get 8 Hours’ Sleep Either.
- Why too much choice is stressing us out.
- This Is Why You Hate the Sound of Your Own Voice on Recordings.
Things of Note:
Woo, I am rocking this back to blogging business! It’s amazing what actually having some free time can do for you. My birthday was good. Low key, and it rained all weekend, but I got to spend it with the hubs and assorted other good people. Plus there was steak, which is always a highlight. Except then I had a pain-in-my-abdomen-is-this-appendicitis scare on Sunday, which was less fun. It eventually went away and I still don’t know what that was about, but it’s all good now.
I did a test run of my Halloween costume last night (particularly the Doing Things to Hair bit, which I’m never good at), and I’m pretty excited about it. Come at me, Halloween, I can take you! If people at the two parties we’re going to don’t get who I am (esp. in relation to Ian’s costume), I shall have to write them off as not Nerd enough. Remind me to take pictures, internet, so I can share with you next week.
What are your Halloween plans? Are you doing a costume?

Weekend Recap: Sister Time!

Friday Favorites: Sister Time!
My lil' sis is coming to visit this weekend! She's been a mere 2 hours away since August, but since her life has been signed over to the USAF, her free time has generally not been her own, and so I've only seen her twice here in Texas. But this weekend she has a 3-day...
Thought for Thursday: Split Personalities?
via I'm not sure if many of you know this, but Dragonflight Dreams is actually the 3rd blog I own (and the @DragonflightGal account is my 3rd twitter account, correspondingly). I have a LOT of different interests in life, and they don't always blend or overlap neatly....

Right Now (#2)
Right now, I am... still in my pajamas, because I'm doing laundry. wishing that more people would sign up for the Be My Valentine Gift Swap. *hint hint* relieved that apparently it's good to have a big rain right after you plant bulbs in the garden, as I just planted...
