ATX Artisans Holiday Market
Just a reminder for you local folk: this weekend, aside from Black Friday and Small Business Saturday, also features Shop Local Sunday. And you can do just that at the ATX Artisans Holiday Market. ATX Artisans is an Etsy team of **all local** artists and makers dedicated to creating handmade, quality goods. This is our 2nd annual holiday market and one of the very few all-volunteer, artist-run markets in Austin. We’ve got roughly 50 different vendors who make all sorts of different things. You can see the full list of vendors here. This year our show is also supporting the […]

Thanks, Annie! And last, if you haven’t already seen, holiday-themed items and stocking stuffer […]
Recipe: Chocolate Fudge
This is one of my all-time favorite sweets around the holidays: sweet, decadent chocolate fudge. My mom has been making this around Christmas for as long as I can remember, and since I’ve lived down here in Texas I’ve taken on making it on my own. Surprisingly, it’s actually a simple recipe. I made a batch to take to Florida with us, and I think it only took -maybe- 15-20 minutes. And the deliciousness is so worth it. I suppose you could throw stuff on top as it cools, like candy cane bits or nuts or sprinkles. But just plain […]

Operation Xmas
Operation Xmas (also know as Operation Christmas Tree) was a success! We picked out a tree in record time, got it onto the roof of the car with some help from the Home Depot guy, got it home and into the house and into its base. It was tall and beautiful and smell-goody. I pulled out the bins of decorations and started stringing lights. And then the first hitch. This tree was taller than our tree of yore, and needed another strand of lights to be fully decked. So off Ian went into the shopping wilderness to pick up another […]
