What I Wore: Pleated Floral

first

If you’re in search of fall outfit inspiration, you’re in the wrong place. Clearly we’re still in the grip of summer weather here. Or at least we were this past weekend, when I took these shots. For all I know Austin experienced a cooling spell as soon as I left. And it will probably still be near 90 when I return.

I love this skirt. It’s easy to wear, since you can just pick any tone out of the floral print (which is itself a great color palette) and use that on top. And the pleats give it a nice touch. It moves really well, too, very swingy and breezy. Also, can I just say how much I love solid color tanks that aren’t boring? Again, easy to pair with something because of the color, but with enough interesting details that it’s not just a throw-away – perfection. I was originally wearing my hair down when I went out to coffee with a friend in the morning, but it quickly warmed up and necessitated hair off the neck.

What’s your favorite kind of tank top, or floral color palette?

What I Wore: to the TxSC Blogger Conference

This past weekend was the 2013 Texas Style Council Conference. Speakers, staff, sponsors, volunteers and ~400 attendees gathered for 3 days of mingling, workshops and fun in downtown Austin. If you’ve been a blog follower for awhile, you may remember I attended this conference last year – my very first and very intimidating/overwhelming blog conference experience. I’m happy to say this year was a million times more fun and useful! Partly because I knew more what to expect and had been working on my shyness factor; partly because this year covered ALL SORTS of business/blog/DIY topics, not just fashion, and […]

What I Wore: Black & Green

This is what I’m wearing today. An easy summer outfit – cute tank or shirt, shorts, sandals or wedges, and a hat. It’s hard to tell in these pictures, but the front of the tank is lace, which I think adds a nice detail. Also, the more I wear this hat, the more I love it. I’m becoming a hat person – who knew? 🙂 Not much in the way of news since yesterday. Work as normal. Still printing up a storm in anticipation of next weekend’s craft party. Still trying to plan my outfits for the conference this weekend. […]

What I Wore: 7 x 7 Remix Challenge #2

7x7 Remix Challenge outfits

That’s right! I’m linking up with Natalia for another 7×7 Remix Challenge! You can see the first one here. If you’ve never seen one of these before, the idea is that you pick 7 pieces of clothing and can only use those items to make (at least) 7 different outfits. Accessories don’t count: jewelry, belts, scarves, and all that can be mixed, matched and piled on. For this one, shoes didn’t count as one of the 7 items either, which changed it up even more. I loved doing the first one, so jumped on board again when she announced this […]

What I Wore: Tribal to the Max

Small glimpse into the inner workings of my mind: I have been thinking of this dress as a tribal print, since the pattern has a sort of hand-drawn quality to it up close (see the detail shot farther down). So I named the post accordingly. Then I went to link to the dress below, and saw it was called ‘geometric’ print on the product listing. And there was this whole back and forth in my head as to whether that was just the store being PC or if I was wrong in filing the dress under the tribal category to […]

What I Wore: Modern Fairytale

A few weeks ago, Vanessa contacted me about doing a themed outfit post. Specifically, the theme was to be ‘My Favorite Fairy Tale.’ I thought this was a fun idea (and good timing since I’m planning on reading Grimms’ Fairy Tales this month), so I signed up. It was a no brainer to me which fairytale I was going to pick. Beauty and the Beast has always been my favorite. It’s not true love until he gives you a library, ladies! 😉 But seriously, I’ve always loved the story. Having a leading lady who is smart and loves books was […]

What I Wore: Bleach Painted

This is what I wore yesterday. Well, at least for part of the day. I changed into jeans in the afternoon for a chiropractic appointment (because shorter skirts + adjustment table/traction table don’t mix well) and never got around to getting back into to the skirt. I blame a hectic day, because I really do love this skirt. It’s got pockets! And is super soft and drape-y, and billows when you spin. A+ all around. Also, I’ve been playing with bleach painting again. You many have seen this shirt on Instagram awhile back if you follow me on there. I’ve […]
