On the Road

On the Road

Today marks the start of a two-week vacation for me, and the boy and I are kicking it off by heading down to San Antonio for the weekend. We’re going to stay in a fancy hotel, eat in the revolving restaurant at the Tower of the Americas, check out El Mercado and the Riverwalk, and just in general relax and have a good time. It’s a sort of early birthday present trip to me, as I turn 30 next week. !!! I’ve officially finished all of the work stuff I needed to get done before leaving this afternoon, and so now I just need to shower, pack my stuff, and get Sienna ready for her doggy day camp weekend. Yes, I’m writing this unshowered, don’t judge.

The rest of the two weeks is just a staycation, but it’s a much needed one since I didn’t really have a vacation this summer. I’ll pop in on the blog here and there, but mostly you’ll find me on the couch reading or Netflixing. It’s going to be awesome. 😀

When was the last time you had a vacation or staycation? Tell me about it!

Port Aransas

Photo-heavy post warning! Last week we escaped down to Port Aransas on Mustang Island for a few days. It was a 4-hour drive from our place, which isn’t too bad, though some passengers disagreed:   There was a lot of rain on the way down, but it cleared up for a short while right when we arrived. We rented a cute little cottage, just a few blocks from the beach in one direction, and a few blocks from downtown in the other direction. Perfect location.   Check-in wasn’t until 4pm, so our first day there was pretty short. We settled […]

Bits & Pieces

1. We head to Port Aransas and the beach tomorrow! And I’m super excited. Except… I made the mistake of checking the weather forecast: Boo!! I’m hoping those chance of rain percentages go down or are wrong and really mean 0. Because a beach vacation where it rains the whole time was not what I had in mind. I guess I’ll pack extra books just in case.   2. I finally did a big photoshoot and should be adding new listings to the shop today. Mostly paper prints, but a few new made-to-order shirt options, too. I’m also still printing […]

What I Wore: On Vacation

I have something a little different and fun for today’s What I Wore: a recap of a whole week! I took my trusty tripod & camera (and iPhone) with me on vacation last week, and thought it’d be neat to do a mini chronicle of what I wore each day. I didn’t always have the time/opportunity to use my fancy camera, but I think the idea still comes across. Behold my wardrobe in all of its vacation casual comfort: Feather print graphic tee from Target, boyfriend style jeans from Victoria’s Secret, Rainbow leather sandals (my go-to long roadtrip shoes).   […]

Tuesday 10: Dream Travels

I’m linking up with Paige for this week’s Tuesday 10, and the theme is Top 10 Places You Want to Travel. Here are my top 10 dream destinations: Ireland. The whole thing, not just one particular spot/city. I’ve had a obsession fixation with the Emerald Isle for as long as I can remember, and have not yet made a journey to its shores. This needs to be remedied ASAP. There’s a reason I’m learning Gaelic. Italy. Particularly Rome and Venice, but again really all of it. I’ve been to Europe a handful of times, but sadly this has not yet […]

Alaska Recap Part 3: Ketchikan & Victoria

What: 7-Day Alaska Cruise Who: Me, the Boy & certain members of the Boy’s family Warning: this is a photo-heavy post. 🙂 Ketchikan Our third port was Ketchikan. I think it was the largest of the Alaskan towns we saw. Here we abandoned all pretense of being rugged, outdoorsy types, and instead went all-out touristy. Our excursion for the day was a combo lumberjack show and totem pole collection tour. The lumberjack show was entertaining, if rigged. It was presented as a contest between two teams of lumberjacks – one from the US, one from Canada. Guess who won? Haha. […]
