What I Wore: Wine & Cream

This month, I am (sporadically) participating in Blogtember with Jenni. The prompt for today was a ‘only photos.’ Appropriate for Wednesday style posts, no? So here are some pics I snapped this morning.

What I Wore: Floral Twist

There’s something quintessentially summer about a good maxi skirt. This particular skirt has quickly become one of my favorites. It’s from Honey & Lace, which has a bunch of cute options. And no I’m not being paid/compensated to say that, I just think their selection is great (and constantly updated!). I wore this outfit around on Monday, doing house and work-from-home stuff, and then out to the movies with some friends. I just love the print on this one. There’s so many colors in the floral that it’s easy to pair a top with it. And, of course, it’s extremely […]

Dressing Up a Basic Maxi

Today I’m sharing 3 ways to wear a solid-colored basic maxi dress. Maxi dresses are one of my favorite things to wear during the summer because they are SUPER comfortable, and there are lots out there with stripes and color blocking and prints. But sometimes a plain maxi is the easiest to just throw on and go. You can layer on different accessories to mix it up, and completely change the look of the outfit. Below are 3 ways to do so, using three different colored maxi dresses as the base: Click to embiggen and see shopping links.   Yeah, […]

What I Wore: Grey Stripes & Mint

I’m a bit behind this week, but I managed to snap these today before a storm rolled in. That’s right, it’s real-time personal style reporting, folks! Haha. But yeah, wearing this right now. Super comfy, as I like all my outfits to be. If there ever comes a day where I decide, for whatever reason, that I no longer like jersey knits, someone knock the crazy out of me. They are my jam. This cardi last seen here, but it’s this dress’ first blog appearance. I love the stripes against the solid, and the interesting lines of it. Plus, like […]

What I Wore: Date Night

Just add maxi dresses to the ever-growing list of my sartorial obsessions. This is what I wore yesterday for date night (and just during the day, too). A comfy, one-piece outfit in a great color combo? Sold and sold. I normally don’t like the blouson affect on myself, because the waist usually hits at a weird spot. But this one hits perfectly! The fact that it is super soft and slightly silky doesn’t hurt. It was the boy’s choice for date night last night, and we ended up going to a place called VooDoo BBQ & Grill that just […]

What I Wore: Purple Maximus

Please excuse the vaunted post title, but I’m feeling quite queenly today. And not just because purple is the color of royalty. I’m feeling like queen of my sewing machine because I made this dress!!! I know – quite the step up from making pillows. At the beginning of the month, Alyx posted an outfit featuring a maxi dress she made herself using this tutorial. She looked amazing, and the tutorial looked easy enough for me to handle. So I took myself to JoAnn’s, found this gorgeous purple colored jersey, and last night sat down to tackle it. I […]

What I Wore: Maxi Stripes

Stripes: only slightly less of an obsession than polka dots and lace. This has been my favorite maxi dress this summer. It’s so soft and breezy, and just plain easy to wear. This is what I wore yesterday around the house, out running errands, and then to a friend’s birthday happy hour gathering. So I can testify to the fact that it is equally comfy when lounging in A/C on the couch, or sipping sangria outside on a patio. Also, I think I’ve finally mastered the messy bun look. 😀 That happy hour was the extent of my definite […]
