Tuesday Treasure Trove

Things of Note:

My Ask Me Anything form is still open. Not a whole lot of submissions thus far, so either y’all aren’t that curious about me, or you have questions but they’re about things you think I don’t want to talk about. If the first, fair enough. If the second, there’s really not a whole lot I won’t talk about. If it’s something I haven’t mentioned on the blog, chances are it’s just because I don’t think you guys would be interested. So if you are – ask away!

Still time to grab a sponsor spot for August!

I am on a shopping hiatus, so guys will have to have all the fun for me for awhile and I will just have to be content with clothes swapping.

I can’t believe tomorrow is August. Where has this summer gone? I haven’t even gone swimming at all yet! What are you guys up to for the last month of summer? (Ok, last month for most of the country… September and even parts of October will still be summer-like here).

Liebster What?

I have apparently been nominated for the Liebster Award, by both Mia and Manda (two fun ladies whose blogs you should check out, fyi). ‘Liebster’ means dearest in German, and the chain-letter-esque blog award is meant to showcase blogs with less than a certain amount of followers (some quick Googling revealed that number to be anywhere from 200 to 3,000 – quite a range). It’s got murky origins and there’s no official database of award recipients or anything, so it’s more just bloggers telling other bloggers ‘hey, I think you’re cool.’ So, that’s kind of cool. Thanks, ladies. 🙂 Aside […]

All Things Shopping

I love online shopping. A lot. Almost more than I love in-store shopping at Target, if that gives you an appropriate sense of scale. But I have a few trips and other things I want to save up for, and so the time has come. I am going on a shopping hiatus. No more shopping for me, for at least a month and very possibly longer. Which means, dear readers and internet friends, I will have to live vicariously through your shopping adventures during this time. So I thought I’d share a few of my favorite online stops, now at […]

July Book Club Review

Earlier this month, I stumbled upon The Book Club run by MK, Kaylee, and Aubrey. Each month the members vote on a book to read, read the book, and then post up a review about it on the last Friday of the month. I thought this sounded like a fun idea, so I joined up. This month’s book was: The Summer I Turned Pretty by Jenny Han I was on the wait-list at the library for this right up until yesterday. Luckily, it’s a fairly short and quick read. Unfortunately, it’s not one I would recommend. It follows the narrator, […]

Christmas in July

This past month I signed up for the Christmas in July gift swap hosted by the amazing Alyx. She paired me up with Noël for the swap, and let me just say, how appropriate is my swap partner’s name for this? Haha. We traded emails and mailing addresses and vague gift ideas, then went to town. Head on over to Noël’s home on the web to see what I sent to her. Below is what she sent to me.       She got me: two books I haven’t read before (yay!), a polka dot scarf, polka dot earrings, and […]

Tuesday 10: Wishlist

Joining up with Paige and Lena for the Tuesday 10. This week’s topic is a wishlist. Whether for Christmas or my birthday or just because or farther in the future, here are some things I’m wishing for: 1. A macro lens and telephoto lens for my camera, to supplement the standard lens I have now. 2. A new car. I’ve been quite happy with my Elantra, so I would probably get another of those – NEW, not used (and certainly not previously owned by a smoker). I love the purple color they had a few years ago, but they don’t […]

Creative Ways to Stay Cool

This originally appeared as a guest post over on The Streeters Unlimited. via As you know, readers, I live in the great state of Texas. Texas is a lot of things, some good and some not so good. But one thing not up for debate is that Texas summers are HOT. 100+ degree days are the norm here. So it’s understandable that I’m always on the look out for creative ways to keep me and my loved ones cool during the summer. Today I thought I’d share some of those with you. Fun with Ice Cubes No, I’m not going […]
