Right Now

Right now, I am…

finishing up the last coat of wood stain on a cool project.

drinking cream soda.

feeling productive as I’ve cleaned the 1st floor of the house and gotten groceries for crepe brunch tomorrow.

thankful that Ian took Sienna to her vet appointment so that was one less thing I had to find time to do.

hooked on Veronica Mars (yeah, WAY late to the game).

really glad it’s the weekend.

all caught up on heat-setting things for the shop!! It’s incredibly tedious, but a good playlist makes it better.

happy to have figured out something fun and unexpected to do for Ian for his birthday in two weeks. 😀

SO looking forward to the massage I’m getting on Sunday.

less looking forward to the new chiro regimen I’ll be starting soon, though I know it’s necessary. My back is jacked up, you guys.

hungry for crepes, but I have to wait until tomorrow. Nom.

What are you getting up to this weekend?

What I Wore: Grey Stripes & Mint

I’m a bit behind this week, but I managed to snap these today before a storm rolled in. That’s right, it’s real-time personal style reporting, folks! Haha. But yeah, wearing this right now. Super comfy, as I like all my outfits to be. If there ever comes a day where I decide, for whatever reason, that I no longer like jersey knits, someone knock the crazy out of me. They are my jam. This cardi last seen here, but it’s this dress’ first blog appearance. I love the stripes against the solid, and the interesting lines of it. Plus, like […]

Book Review: MWF Seeking BFF

MWF Seeking BFF by Rachel Bertsche Rachel Bertsche realized after a few years in a new city (Chicago) that she was missing an important element in her social life: a best friend. More importantly, a local best friend, since her other best friends were left behind on the east coast when she moved. But with not being single, not being in school and not being particularly religious, she had no idea how to go about finding potential friends. Or how to grow the friendship into something meaningful once she had found them. So she set out on a year-long quest […]

Friday Favorites: Films for Thought

My range of movie-viewing is pretty wide. I’m equally happy watching a Bruce Willis action flick or a period drama or a romantic comedy or a quirky indie dramady. But I think my favorite are the type that are otherwise a normal storyline, but add just a little bit of weird/unreality with a pivotal What If question. And I thought I’d share some recent viewings that fall under this category, each of which I really enjoyed for different reasons. They are all what I like to call thinking movies. Not in a ‘ahh too much going on can’t keep track […]

NYC Midnight Short Story Challenge 2013

NYC Midnight Short Story Challenge 2013

Exciting news, folks! I’ve been taking part in the annual NYC Midnight Short Story Challenge for a few years now. If you’re not familiar with it, it’s a writing contest that consists of 3 rounds: the first round you have a week to write a short story, the 2nd round you have 3 days, and the 3rd round you have only 24 hours. The pool of contestants gets winnowed down each round, and I’ve never made it past the first round before (admittedly, I didn’t think my submissions were all that good before). BUT. This year, I was assigned a […]

What I Wore: Pale Colorblock

I think at heart I will always be a jeans & t-shirt girl. I often enjoy dresses and skirts, and like getting dolled up every once in awhile. But when I ask myself in the morning “I want to be comfortable today, what should I wear?” the answer is almost always jeans and a tee. That’s not to say it can’t still be interesting, or dressed up if needed. Throw on a blazer and heels/wedges and the outfit goes up a few notches. And I think interesting tees like this one I wore yesterday keep the combo not boring. I […]
