March Pretties

Monthly jewelry round-up time! Etsy gets a lot of crap from outside the handmade community for allowing sellers that sell crap, and there certainly is some of that. But there are also so many true artisan crafters with quality products. It’s part of why I do these round-ups (focusing on jewelry because I like jewelry). This month I’ve got two for you. The first is the typical month-themed collection, with March’s birthstones (aquamarine and bloodstone), flower (daffodil), and zodiacs (Pisces and Aries). The second, one day late, is an Irish-themed collection in honor of St. Patrick’s Day. Which in reality I did nothing for; I didn’t even wear green. Luckily, I didn’t get pinched.

So, feast your eyes on some of the beautiful things I’ve found on Etsy this month:

Book Review: The Loose Lip Brigade

The Loose Lip Brigade

The Loose Lip Brigade by Julia Newman Don’t be fooled by the chic-lit-sounding name; this book of short stories is the opposite of a fluff read, in a good way. The 7 stories included all revolve around characters struggling with and drowning in self-doubt, anxiety, helplessness and fear of intimacy. This is not the book to read if you want to come away happy and smiling. But the writing is good, and even quite beautiful and insightful in places. The way the different emotions experienced by the characters are described is poignant and relatable, even if you’ve never sunk to […]

Lucky Leprechaun Book & Polish Swap

Back in February, I signed up for the Lucky Leprechaun Book & Polish Swap. Because I like books and nail polishes, if you didn’t know, and swaps are always a fun way to get new ones. 🙂 I was paired up with Lauren, we exchanged a few preferences, and here is what she sent me: She was spot-on! This book has been on my to-read list for awhile, and I LOVE the nail polish color. It’s the color currently on my toes, in fact (but I’ll spare you a feet picture). 😀 Thank you very much, Lauren! Have you participated […]

Wedding Wear Poll

As mentioned earlier this week, I have a wedding to attend this weekend and no idea what to wear! So I’ve come up with a few outfit ideas, and I want to put it to the vote. So you guys need to chime in. Spring wedding, semi-formal/formal-ish. Both the wedding ceremony and reception are outdoors, in the evening. It’s supposed to be up to 78 that day, but festivities don’t start til 6, so it’ll be cooling off by then. Here are the choices: Wedding Guest Attire by dragonflight-dreams   #1) A dress with pockets (always good) of heavier material. […]

What I Wore: Olive & Navy (Pinterest Challenge)

That’s me being a copycat on the left, and my inspiration on the left (Anna from Mungolife). As part of the Pinterest Challenge, I picked two outfits that I wanted to try my hand at recreating, and this is the first one I tackled. You can see the original pin here. I substituted a big necklace instead of a big scarf, since I didn’t have a scarf that would fit this color scheme and would’ve sweltered in it anyway (it got up to 78 yesterday!). And obviously I had to put my own spin on it with specific item choices. […]

Bits & Pieces

I had a crafty post all planned for today, but then life happened and I just didn’t get around to the project this weekend. I’m still nursing my tiredness from the socializing marathon and loss of an hour (curse you, DST!), so ‘real’ posts will resume tomorrow. 🙂 In the meantime, some bits and pieces happening around here: 1. Had a FABULOUS time at the TxSC mixer on Saturday, and ended up leaving the craft camp on Sunday early, which was the reverse of what I expected. And I was a bad blogger, because I hardly took any pictures. I […]
